Recommended for larger conferences and professional events.

  • Simultaneous interpreters render the speech in real time, even into several target languages at once.
  • Interpreting can be delivered with full interpreting equipment, as whispered interpreting, or through an online platform.
  • We have been working with the region’s very best conference interpreters for more than 21 years.
  • Our specialty is the end-to-end delivery of multilingual international conferences with full technical setup.

Consecutive interpreting

Recommended for business meetings, negotiations, presentations, and training sessions.

  • Speakers pause after a few sentences or a complete idea so the interpreter can convey the message accurately.
  • Consecutive interpreting is a cost-effective solution for smaller events and meetings.
  • We pay close attention to every detail, from interpreter selection and preparation to on-site coordination.
  • It can be delivered both in person and online.

Best fit for:

  • Business meetings and negotiations

Liaison or on-site interpreting

We recommend liaison or on-site interpreters primarily for factory training, plant visits, administrative matters, and informal meetings.

  • We provide on-site interpreting for longer training periods, audits, and plant visits both in Hungary and abroad.
  • The interpreter continuously supports communication between participants on site.
  • It is an ideal choice where smooth face-to-face communication matters most.
  • We offer favorable packages for long-term on-site interpreting.

Best fit for:

  • Factory training
  • Plant visits
  • Administrative matters
  • Informal meetings

Frequently asked questions about interpreting

We have collected the questions we hear most often about interpreting. If you can't find your answer, write to us — our team is happy to help.

Request an interpreting quote

What types of interpreting are available, and when should you use each one?

  • Consecutive interpreting: for negotiations, business meetings, and smaller professional discussions — the interpreter renders the message after each shorter section of speech.
  • Simultaneous interpreting: for conferences, larger events, and multilingual settings — interpreting takes place in real time, typically from an interpreting booth.
  • On-site interpreting: in industrial, factory, and other workplace settings, in Hungary and abroad.
  • Remote interpreting: for online events, in both consecutive and simultaneous formats.

If you are not sure which type would best suit your event, send us a brief description of the location, topic, duration, and number of participants, and we will help you choose the right solution.

How much is an interpreter's hourly or daily rate?

The cost of interpreting depends on several factors:

  • the type of interpreting (consecutive or simultaneous)
  • the language pair
  • the duration and location of the event
  • any technical equipment needed

Quotes are usually based on a time block, such as up to 4 or 8 hours; if the event runs longer, overtime is charged at an hourly rate. For assignments outside Budapest, travel costs and availability fees may also apply.

Once we have the details of the event, we can provide a precise, tailored quote.

Why does simultaneous interpreting require two interpreters?

In simultaneous interpreting, the interpreter works in real time: listening to the speaker, processing the message, and rendering it into the target language all at once. This requires intense concentration and can only be sustained at the highest level for a limited period of time.

For longer events, two interpreters therefore work together in the same booth and usually take turns every 20–30 minutes. While one interpreter is speaking, the other follows the presentation, takes notes, checks terminology, and supports their colleague where needed.

This ensures that the audience receives accurate, fluent, and easy-to-follow interpreting from the beginning of the event to the end.

Is interpreting equipment, such as a booth or headsets, required, and can Edimart provide it?

Simultaneous interpreting usually requires dedicated interpreting equipment, such as a soundproof interpreting booth, microphones, and headsets for participants. For multilingual events, relay interpreting equipment may also be needed.

We can provide this together with the interpreting service, including on-site project management, so you do not need to arrange it separately. Once we know the venue and the number of participants, we will recommend the appropriate technical setup.

What languages and locations do you cover?

Our frequently requested languages include German, Romanian, Slovak, Polish, Ukrainian, Russian, Korean and Japanese interpreters, but we work in many more languages. We provide interpreters in Budapest and across Hungary (e.g. Szeged, Debrecen), factory interpreting in Hungary and abroad, and online interpreting for remote meetings.

How experienced are your interpreters?

We deliver a premium interpreting experience: our minimum requirement for interpreters is 5+ years of interpreting experience alongside native-level language skills. Edimart is Hungary's market-leading interpreting agency, with outstanding experience in meetings, conferences and factory interpreting.

How do I book an interpreter, and what should I provide in advance?

Preparation is an essential part of any interpreting assignment, so it is best to contact us as early as possible and share the relevant materials in advance. For a quote, please send us:

  • the date and venue of the event
  • the language pair and the topic
  • the type of interpreting (consecutive or simultaneous)
  • any useful background materials: the programme, presentations, and the speakers’ names and roles

Based on this information, we will prepare a quote and reserve the right interpreter for your event.
